Community teams from Biodiversity Hotpots (Conservation Action Plans) across Carolinian Canada gathered to discuss recovery successes, local plans for Species at Risk recovery, highlights of pilot conservation action planning, habitat restoration guidelines, social marketing and more on June 5th in Jordan, Ontario.

AGM 2009: Water for Life

The Carolinian Canada Coalition Annual General Meeting, held on Friday, May 8th, 2009, at Maplewood Hall in Dundas, was a resounding success! On Friday, May 8th, Carolinian Canada Coalition celebrated the hard work and dedication of outstanding people and groups who care about their local habitat and wildlife. They embody the notion of “Thinking Globally and Acting Locally”. All across southwestern Ontario, these caring people have quietly dedicated most of their spare time, and in some cases their careers, to conserving habitat and collaborating for healthy landscapes. Caring for Nature in Brant and North Dumfries Factsheet Launch, March 20th, 2009 at Apps' Mill Nature Centre
On March 20th, Carolinian Canada Coalition will be launching the factsheet, 'Caring for Nature in Brant and North Dumfries'. Local stewardship groups involved in the project gather at Apps' Mill Nature Centre on 308 Robinson Road near Brantford to celebrate the launch. If features the work of dedicated farmers, rural landowners and community groups who have worked tirelessly to conserve and restore natural habitats and help species at risk. All our welcome.

Carolinian Canada at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair
Ontario's only marsupial a star in hit game show
November 15th, 2008, Toronto
Are you smarter than an opossum? This is what contestants attending Biodiversity Day at the Royal Winter Fair tried to find out. CCC staff and volunteers posed as marsupials and plied the crowd with questions about nature in southern Ontario. Children and their parents enjoyed the educational and interactive game. We are eager to tailor this game for a diversity of audiences and take this show on the road. Caring for Nature in Hamilton Factsheet Launch

This conference was geared towards volunteers and professionals who are interested in saving habitat - land trusts, conservation authorities, municipalities, recovery teams, environmental NGOs, landowners, government agencies and industry experts. The impacts of this conference will be felt throughout the conservation community across southwestern Ontario.
Youth Help Species at Risk in Carolinian Canada
Find out how teenagers are helping improve species survival in southwestern Ontario. Stewardship Ranger teams from various counties and First Nations across the region will present the stories of their experiences with Species at Risk in Carolinian Canada.

Niagara Region Caring for Nature Factsheet Launch
July 16th, 2008
The eighth in the Caring for Nature series, the Niagara Factsheet was launched at Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery. The Winery was featured in the factsheet for their restoration work including the installation of biofilters and planting native plants around their holding ponds, with help from the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority. The factsheet is now available online, as well as a detailed media release regarding the launch.

Middlesex County Caring for Nature Factsheet Launch
May 29th, 2008
The seventh in the Caring for Nature series, the Middlesex Factsheet was launched from a landowner's property on Nairn Creek in the Ausable Bayfield watershed. The landowners were featured in the factsheet as part of shoreline restoration project which exceeded the expectations of the partner organization, the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority. The factsheet is now availalbe online, as well as a detailed media release regarding the launch.
Annual General Meeting 2008 and Norfolk County Factsheet Launch - May 22nd
Join the Carolinian Canada Coalition and Bird Studies Canada for an exciting day of bird tours, keynote speakers and discussions on the future of the Coalition. The Coalition will also be launching it's sixth factsheet in the Caring for Nature series, 'Caring for Nature in Norfolk County'. This is a free event that will take place in Port Rowan. Meeting details are available here. Register by May 12th.

Carolinian Woodland Recovery Strategy Meeting
February 21st, 2008 in London, 9am-4pm
Join the Carolinian Woodland Network for this interesting and informative event. Hear about new pilot projects in Woodland Recovery, learn about the Carolinian Woodland Recovery Strategy, connect and share ideas with other recovery teams and much more. A training session on the Rural Landowner Stewardship Guide will be held in the afternoon.

Forum 2007: A Resounding Success!
The “Exploring the Nature of Climate Change” 2007 Forum was held on October 26th in London, Ontario. Carolinian Canada Coalition supporters listened, learned and discussed an organized response from the nature conservation community - a Carolinian Canada Big Picture strategy for the future. The one-day event brought together many voices and perspectives.
